Town U14s crowned Champions 2010/2011
After
a successful season which saw them lose just one game,
Horncastle Town Under 14s were finally crowned champions of
Mid Lincs 14c Division with a recent 1-0 win over Alford.
Horncastle broke down the battling Alford juniors with a Sam
Johnson goal 5 minutes from time.
The
win was a fitting end to their season which had seen them drop
just 3 points in 18 league games scoring 72 goals and keep 11
clean sheets.
Highlights of the season were beating HBW home and away - a
team who have lost only three times this campaign.
Leading
goalscorers for Horncastle this year were Henry Lyddiatt with
15, Elliott Beamer 13 and Sam Johnson 11. But it was the great
team spirit and good workrate which has played the biggest
part in getting the boys their deserved success.

Mid Lincs League
20-03-2011
Town U14s took a huge
step towards clinching the championship with a 3-2 win over
title rivals HBW. Town are the only team to beat HBW
this season and doing the double was a magnificent effort.
The first half saw the
lads really up against it with the home side dominating with
the wind and slope in their favour. However Town defended
superbly and with only a couple of minutes to go before the
break they broke away to score. Jack Ingall won the ball on
the edge of the box and the ball broke free for Henry Lyddiatt
to fire home.
After the break HBW
got back in the game with a penalty and then after more
pressure took a 2-1 lead as Town struggled to get any momentum
going. But the lads showed great team spirit to battle
back and after a scramble on the edge of the HBW box Sam
Johnson headed home the ball over the stranded HBW
keeper. Just as it looked like the game was heading for
a draw Town grabbed a vital winner. Elliott Beamer won a great
challenge and the ball fell to Jack Ingall. His shot was saved
by the keeper but Ingall steadied himself superbly to fire
home the rebound before being swamped by his jubilant team
mates.

Mid Lincs League
06-03-2011
After
a magnificent 14 match winning streak Town U14s finally lost
with
a poor performance at St Helens.
The
boys looked complacent from the start and St Helens took the
game by
the scruff of the neck. The only goal of the half was scored
from long
range giving Town keeper Alan Johnson no chance.
In
the second half Town went 2-0 down and this finally seemed to
kick
start them. They started to fight for the ball and also
started to play
the passing game which has done them well this season.
Goals
from Ben Fidling and Elliott Beamer brought them level but
just as
Town looked like they were going to go on and win the game St
Helens hit
them on the break and sealed a deserved victory despite some
very
dubious decisions from the home officials.
Lets
hope the boys can learn from this defeat and get back to
winning
ways next Saturday at Swineshead.

Town U14s 2 HBW 0
Mid Lincs League
13-02-2011
Going
into this game Town had won 13 games out of 13 and HBW had won
12 out of 12 - so something had to give. Horncastle were
not intimidated by the physical presence of the opposition and
totally dominated the first half - creating chance after
chance but unfortunately couldn't find a way past the
impressive visiting keeper.
After
the break Town continued to push on and took the lead from an
incredible 40 yard free kick by Elliott Beamer. HBW then came
back strongly and only some dogged defending from Wilkinson,
Telfer, Dalton and Hughes and great keeping from Johnson kept
Town in it. Once again the midfield of Swift, Johnson,
Fidling and Boal worked tirelessly and up front Lyddiatt and
Beamer were always a handful for HBW's defence.
With
ten minutes to go Town went 2 up. Jordan Boal was brought down
just inside the box and Sam Johnson knocked home the resulting
penalty. Town held on and as a result the 2pts gained
were enough to give the boys promotion.
There
are still 4 games to play and the lads know that only
continued hard work will give them the chance to go on to
become Champions.
Fantastic
stuff lads - keep it going.

Old
Leake 2 Horncastle Town U14s 3
Mid Lincs League
13-02-2011
The 100% run goes on as Town U14s made it 12 out of 12 at Old
Leake on Sunday.
It was by far Town's hardest game yet and the boys had to
really work hard to grind out a result.
The
home side were certainly fired up and took the lead mid-way
thru the first half. Town only started to get their game
together for the last 10 mins of the half but couldn't find a
way past the Old Leake defence.
In
the second half Town came out determined to prove why they
were top of the league and grabbed an equaliser from Jordan
Boal after a determined run from Jack Ingall.
Old Leake hit back with goal from close in to make it 2-1.
Town bounced back though when George Swift battled through the
Old Leake defence and despite being hauled back managed to
fire past the home keeper. At the other end Town keeper Alan
Johnson was in fine form once again.
The
winning goal came 5 mins from the end when Elliot Beamer fired
home after good work from Ben Fidling.
Well
done to all the boys for upping their game and putting in a
fine team performance in the second half.
Team:
Alan Johnson, Chris Bruntlett, Joe Wilkinson, Joel Hughes, Dan

Another
fine performance on a difficult pitch saw Town Under 14s come
away with a 5-0 victory at Boston Saints.
Leading
goal scorer Henry Lyddiatt opened the scoring after ten
minutes. Just before Jordan Boal had just gone close with a
volley from Ben Fidling's cross.
Jordan Boal continued his great scoring run to make it 2-0 and
Sam Johnson addded a third knocking in the rebound after his
penalty kick was saved.
After
the break the impressive Jack Ingall added two goals to make
it 5-0.
Substitute Elliott Beamer went close with a well taken free
kick while Chris Bruntlett also nearly scored.
Once
again Town's defence were in great form marshalled well by
skipper Dan Dalton as was keeper Alan Johnson who made it
seven clean sheets in 11 wins out of 11 in the league, well
done lads.

Horncastle Town U14s 3 Old Leake 1
Mid Lincs League
30-01-2011
The winning streak continued for Town U14s with a tenth
consecutive victory following a 3-1 win over third placed Old
Leake. Horncastle took a while to get into their normal stride
but eventually took the lead when Jordan Boal scored from
close range. Old
Leake headed a deserved equaliser before the break as they
continued to put the Town defence under pressure.
In the second half Town discovered their recent form and
after a great move involving George Swift and Henry Lyddiatt,
Sam Johnson fired home from the edge of the box.
Soon after it was 3-1 when Elliot Beamer's strike crashed
against the post and Jordan Boal was on hand to knock in the
rebound.
Horncastle could have increased their goal tally as they
started to create more chances. It was the visitors though who
nearly pulled a goal back but keeper Alan Johnson pulled off
another great save.
Once again Town worked their socks off for each other and got
their reward with another 2 points, well done.
Town: Alan Johnson, Chris Bruntlett, Mac Windley,
Joe Wilkinson (MOM), Joel Hughes, Dan Dalton, Sam Johnson,
George Swift (MOM), Ben Fidling, Jack Ingall, Jordan Boal,

Mid

23-01-2011
Town
Under 14s made it a magnificent nine out of nine victories in the
league with a convincing win over Hykeham Tigers.
Horncastle took an early lead from a Jordan Boal header
from Ben
Fidlings corner.
The
lead was doubled shortly after when Jack Ingall powered home a
volley from the edge of the box. Minutes before half-time Boal
scored his second with another header from another quality Fidling
corner. Town continued to dominate the game after the break but
only added one
more goal when Elliot Beamer fired home from close range after
confusion in the Tigers box.
Once
again another great team performance and yet another clean sheet.
Well done lads. Next
week the boys are at home to Old Leake, 10.45 kick off.
Team:

Wilkinson, Jack Ingall, George Swift, Jordan Boal, Ben Fidling,

Mid
Lincs League
16-01-2011
Town
Under 14s made it 8 wins out of 8 in the league but had to fight
hard to come home with the points against a battling Hykeham side.
Horncastle took the lead
after ten minutes when Jack Ingall's shot
crashed against the post and came out to Elliot Beamer who powered
the
ball home from 15 yards out.
Although
Horncastle enjoyed the more possession it was Hykeham who nearly
equalised but Town keeper Alan Johnson pulled off a great save
when one on one with the Tiger's striker.
In
the second half Town never really got their football going as the
game turned into a very physical battle.
The Tigers' keeper denied Horncastle with 3 great saves but
eventually they found the important second goal when Jordan Boal
drove home from inside the box.
Town's
defence of Bruntlett, Windley, Hughes, Dalton and Wilkinson were
again in fine form alongside keeper Johnson and deserved to keep a
clean sheet for the sixth time in eight league games. Centre
midfielders Sam Johnson and George Swift continue to impress and
Ingall,
Boal, Beamer, Fidling and Telfer all played their part in Town's
hardest victory so far.

Another
great team performance from Town U14s who beat Spilsby 11-0

Walsh. Keep up the good work boys, well done.

Mid
Lincs League Cup
21-11-2010
The
boys should be proud of themselves after taking 'A' League
opposition Wyberton to extra time, just losing out in the last
few minutes.
After
beating higher league opposition in the previous round Town
fancied taking another scalp against old rivals Wyberton. The
boys started well and took the lead through Henry Lyddiatt
with a neat finish.
Wyberton
hit back with a fortunate goal, the ball stayed low straight
from a corner and bypassed at least seven bodies in the box
and finished in the back of the net.
The score remained the same in the second half with chances
going begging at both ends.
In extra time Town had keeper Alan Johnson to thank when he
pulled off a great penalty save to cap a great performance
between the sticks.
Just
as it looked like the game was going to penalties Wyberton
popped up to score a late winner giving Town no time to reply.
Man
of the match went to Alan Johnson and centre back Joel Hughes.
Hopefully the boys will bounce
back and carry on their unbeaten run in the league - next up
Old Leake in 2 weeks time.

Town
Under 14s remain unbeaten in the league after beating St
Helens B this morning. Sam Johnson got brought down by the
keeper in the first half and dusted himself down to put away
the resulting penalty. In a hard fought game it was George
Swift who added Town's second with a tremendous long range
effort ten minutes from time. It was a superb battling
performance from the whole team who have now won six out of
six
league games this season. Keep up the good work lads.

Town
lost their unbeaten record this morning against 'A' League
side
Fishtoft in the County Cup.
Although
Fishtoft looked a decent well organised team, Horncastle never
really got going and failed to put in a performance which has
seen them
to six straight victories this season.
In
true manager's cliche lads 'lets concentrate on the league'.
Hopefully back to

Screamer In Extra Time
Town's
unbeaten run continued after a thrilling cup win over higher
league opposition Nettleham.
The
lads looked in control after two well taken goals from Henry
Lyddiatt gave them early advantage.
Skipper Dan Dalton made a game of it with a superb own
goal from the
edge of the area giving keeper Alan Johnson no chance to make
it 2-1 at the break!
Elliott
Beamer made it 3-1 before Nettleham came back strong to send
the game into extra time.
Sam
Johnson finished well to make it 4-3 but then Nettleham pulled
another goal back from long range.
Just as it looked like penalties were going to happen,
Elliott Beamer scored with a trademark screamer from 30 yards.
Great
team effort again, well done.

No game now for 2 weeks (31-10-2010), training
week on Saturday 9.30am (30-10-2010).
Horncastle Town Under 14s continued their fine form with a
6-0 win over Sutton.
This makes it five wins out of five for the boys this season
in the Mid Lincs League.
Sam Johnson opened the scoring with a well taken volley
from close range. Elliot Beamer then made it 2-0 when he broke
clear and lobbed the keeper from 20 yards out. Henry Lyddiatt
added a third before half time following great link up play
with Joe Wilkinson and Jordan Boal.
Town continued to dominate after the break with two
powerful strikes from George Swift and a good individual goal
from Sam Johnson finished the scoring.
This was another decent team performance with the whole team
playing their part. Joel Hughes and Dan Dalton have formed a
great partnership at centre back and Joe Wilk and Chris
Bruntlett adding stability at
fullback. Jordan Boal, Ben Fidling, George Swift, and
Sam Johnson have been in fine form in midfield and Elliott
Beamer and Henry Lyddiatt have linked up well up front. Alan
Johnson also deserves much praise in goal; he has added
confidence to the team with some magnificent displays in the
opening games.
Other squad members who are all out injured at the moment are
Jack Ingall, Mac Windley Marshall and Ben Telfer, all 3
players have performed well in previous wins over Alford
(3-0), Boston Saints (2-1), Sutton (3-2) and Spilsby (8-0).
The boys will have to keep working hard with several hard
games coming up but it they maintain this form then hopefully
their success will continue.
