Ability Counts Football Regional Tournament Played at Cherry Willingham
Community School
13-02-2011
Horncastle Town's Ability Counts team were chosen to
represent Lincolnshire in a Regional Tournament that was held
at Cherry Willingham Community School. Town were playing
against Derby County, Notts County, Northampton Town and
Leicester but despite the quality of the opposition they
acquitted themselves extremely well on the day.
Their first game was against Derby County and Town won by
three goals to nil. A single goal reverse followed against
Notts County before a very strong Northampton side
comprehensively beat them. Despite this defeat, Town bounced
back in their final game and only lost by three goals to one
against a good Leicester City side.
The players who represented Town on the day were: Liam Smith,
Ashley Morley, Ross Widdowson, Andrew Glover, Oscar Burgess,
Ben Williamson, Rory Tindall and Johnny Hall.
Special mentions should go to Liam Smith for only conceding
one goal in two games as goalkeeper, Ben Williamson for some
excellent performances and Andrew Glover for his best
performances to date. However, all of the lads deserve a lot
of credit for the manner in which they performed against by
far the strongest opposition they have faced.
