Horncastle Town Football Club Ability Counts 2011/2012

Ability Counts Football Tournament held at Skegness

Grammer School

Town’s U16 Ability Counts team travelled to Skegness Grammar School on Sunday for their third tournament of the season. Despite losing all of their games, they played well throughout and emerged with a lot of credit. Top scorer Alex Storrer was unavailable but Matthew Warden scored three times with Oscar Burgess also on the score sheet. Ashley Morley and Daniel Barnfield performed strongly in defence with Teddy Kinnon and Liam Smith working tirelessly in midfield. Matthew Burley and Ashley Morley shared the goalkeeping duties and both did well with Matthew also playing well at the back.

Although Town lost their four games, three of them were by the odd goal and with a little more good fortune their results could have been even better. There is now a break until February when the next tournament is to be held at Scunthorpe .

Ability Counts Football Tournament held at Boston United

Jakemans Stadium

Town's Ability Counts Team played at Boston United's Jakeman's Stadium on Sunday and emerged with a lot of credit after winning two of their three games. In their opening game they struggled to compete against a much bigger and stronger Boston Utd side but having regrouped, they went on to beat both Foresight and Lincoln City by a narrow margin.

Alex Storrer was top scorer on the day with 3 goal but he was backed up by Oscar Burgess who scored twice and Matthew Warden who scored his first goal for the team.

Matthew Burley performed superbly in goal and Liam Smith and Teddy Kinnon worked tirelessly in defence. Overall, it was an outstanding team effort and all of the players gave a really good account of themselves on the day.

The next tournament is to be held at Skegness on Sunday 20th November but the venue has not been decided as yet.

Ability Counts Football Tournament held at Cherry Wiilingham Community School

On Sunday 25th September, Town's U16 Ability Counts squad travelled to Cherry Willingham Community School for their first tournament of the season. Three of the players were representing the Town for the first time but all of the players acquitted themselves well against strong teams from Lincoln City and Scunthorpe United. All of the games were keenly contested and the quality of the football played was very high. The teams played four games of twenty minutes each:
